Description

This complete ceremonial Hapé bundle brings together a handcrafted tepi, a handcrafted kuripe and two 10g Hapé blends, combining practical ceremonial tools with the rich visual language of Amazonian craftsmanship.

The Kené beadwork

The most striking feature of the tepi is the intricate Kené beadwork running along the body of the piece.

Kené refers to the distinctive geometric designs strongly associated with Shipibo-Konibo artistic traditions of the Peruvian Amazon. These flowing, interlocking patterns appear across textiles, embroidery, ceramics, body art and other forms of traditional and contemporary craft.

Rather than simple decoration, Kené is part of a much wider artistic language rooted in pattern, relationship, nature, identity and Indigenous Amazonian culture.

On this piece, that visual tradition is expressed through individually placed beads, creating a detailed geometric design that wraps around the wooden tepi. The colour, symmetry and hand-worked nature of the beadwork give every applicator its own character.

The Tepi

The tepi is the longer applicator traditionally used when Hapé is served from one person to another.

This piece combines natural wood, woven Kené-inspired beadwork, feather details and Amazonian decorative elements, creating something that is both functional and visually distinctive.

Because the work is completed by hand, small variations in the bead pattern, colour, wood grain and finishing are part of the piece rather than imperfections.

The Kuripe

The kuripe is the smaller V-shaped applicator used for self-application.

The kuripe within this bundle is crafted from richly coloured wood and finished with decorative inlay work, feather detailing and metal accents. The inlays give the piece another layer of individuality and connect visually with the ceremonial character of the set.

The Hapé

The bundle is completed with 2 x 10g Hapé blends, giving you two different preparations to work with.

Included:

1 x handcrafted Amazonian tepi with Kené-inspired beadwork

1 x handcrafted kuripe with inlay and feather detailing

2 x 10g Hapé blends

Together, the kuripe and tepi give you tools for both personal and shared ceremonial practice, while the Hapé completes the set.

What makes this bundle special is that the tools themselves carry craftsmanship. They aren’t simply functional objects. The natural woods, hand-laid beadwork, inlays and feather details reflect the time, skill and cultural influences behind their creation.

Please note: these are individually handcrafted pieces. Bead patterns, colours, wood grain, feather detailing and inlays can vary from one piece to another, making each set unique.
